About

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a talking therapy that is known to be really effective in treating anxiety disorders and depression amongst other mental health conditions.

It encompasses a wide range of techniques and skills that have been thoroughly and scientifically researched and draws from a wide range of trusted sources from all of humankind.

It is the cream of the most wonderful and wisest of us over time.

CBT works with whatever we think about and what we do as human beings. Pretty much everything we engage in from the moment we emerge into this world to the day we take our final breath.

In the hustle and bustle of modern life we can get into unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour which both create and fuel anxiety and depression.  We end up feeling sad, low, dissatisfied, stressed and can wonder how we ended up feeling this way.

CBT shines a light on these unhelpful patterns.  It shows us initially what patterns are present, that we have these patterns, and more importantly that we don't have to keep these patterns. We can tweak them, change them, we can be pattern breakers- take control.

We can make our thinking work for us and we can choose and implement a more helpful way of thinking. Like-wise we examine our behaviour - what we do and don't do. Explore helpful behaviour and unhelpful behaviour and make little, manageable changes that move us in the right direction.

These interventions add up, are building blocks to get us back on track. They create momentum.

Forwards is forwards.
